The 1st song i ever heard from Slum Village was "Climax", from the Fantasic Vol. 2. Till this very day, a friend of mine will swear up and down, with spite in his heart, that he put me on to SV. He did mention the "three stripes like my adidas line" but once i heard the whole track, i was musically inclined to do the leg work and cop the Album. Once i got it, it was like openin up a can of ATCQ w Detriot splashed all over it. Those hard Jay Dee beats scream Conant Gardens, East side, White Doo Rags and Ye's. Yes sir. And on top of all that they were and still sound sooo organic/soulful, like the beat is playin on an ol ass dusty records with the pop sounds. Ya Dig? lol. Any who...just my recolection of the group my man, Battin, ill always be apart of. Now him and Jay Dee can rhyme again...
